Elwin Binu, a 15-year-old cadet with the Civil Air Patrol in Amherst, Mass., was recently promoted to senior airman after meeting all the requirements for the Col. Mary Feik Achievement. "Cadet Binu continues to impress us with his hard work and study," the squadron's commanding officer said in a statement, per MassLive. He's one of two Civil Air Patrol cadets to receive this promotion, the other being 17-year-old Firas Hashmi, who was promoted to cadet airman first class. The cadets are part of the Civilian Air Patrol, a volunteer auxiliary of the US Air Force. The Feik Achievement is the third promotion that can earn as they progress from basic airmen, to cadet non-commissioned officers, to cadet officer.
